Bill has 25 years of experience as a leader in the Chemical, Environmental Services, Oil field Services, Water/Wastewater Treatment and other industrial markets. He has been a Senior Executive in publicly traded and private companies as well as CEO, Executive Chairman, Chairman, interim CEO and Board member of six private equity portfolio companies. Bill has consistently exceeded aggressive objectives by building outstanding teams and leadership across strategy, sales, marketing, technology, finance and operations.

In 2002 he was recruited by Celanese to build and then run a $1 billion specialty chemical business. Initially he led the M&A group, which bought and sold several entities with nearly $2 billion of revenue. He was then given responsibility for integrating 6 acquired businesses and leading the newly formed global $1 billion dollar division. In the middle of this initiative, Blackstone acquired Celanese and redomiciled the company in the United States. Bill was one of the Senior Executives in the company and played an integral role in the IPO. Blackstone has referred to this transaction as one of their most successful.

He joined Clean Earth as CEO in 2006; one of the largest recyclers of contaminated soil, recycling 98% of the materials they receive. Bill turned around the company, developed and executed a comprehensive Strategic Plan, built a strong team and achieved record results. In 2009 he was recruited by Carlyle to turn around Synagro, the largest recycler of organic by-products in the United States. Synagro has a wide range of capabilities to provide solutions from beneficial reuse to renewable energy. During his tenure the company achieved record EBITDA, paid down debt, received the first credit upgrade in its history, completed two acquisitions and was featured on Undercover Boss.

Bill started Boldwater Partners in 2011 to leverage his expertise by focusing on value creation for Private Equity portfolio companies. He actively seeks targets, which have a sustainable competitive advantage and outstanding growth potential. Bill has successfully closed on companies he sourced directly and through PE/advisor relationships.

The nature of the long-term relationship depends upon the needs of the company and sponsor; they have included Operating Partner, Executive Chairman, Interim CEO, Board Member and Advisor. He is currently supporting companies in a variety of markets including DBOO distributed water infrastructure, Oil Field Services and Automation, Environmental Services and engineered absorbent systems.

From 1989 to 2002 he had a variety of finance, sales, marketing and general management positions at General Chemical and Cambrex. From 1982 to 1989 Bill was an Officer in the US Navy in a variety of operational and staff roles including Director of Nuclear Training for Naval Submarine School.

Bill has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell, the equivalent of MS in Nuclear Engineering through his Nuclear Submarine training and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is active in a number of volunteer roles including as a pilot for Angel Flight.
